About Daniel

Daniel Dippold built his first company at 19, exited at 21, and has been compounding ever since. Today he runs EWOR — one of Europe's most selective venture studios, accepting just 30 founders from 60,000 annual applicants. The structure works: EWOR delivered Europe's biggest exit of 2025.

What makes Dani a rare guest is that his obsession with optimization extends far beyond business. He has meditated since age five, worked with somatic coaches, Jungian psychoanalysts, and has tracked over 100 biomarkers twice a year for a decade — all in service of one question: how do you build at extreme speed for a lifetime without breaking?

His core belief: pressure is a story you tell yourself. And the founders who burn out are the ones who forgot that.

What You'll Learn

The compound system. Why Daniel believes a specific, repeatable system — not talent — leads to billion-dollar outcomes, and how to build it incrementally without burning out.
Pressure is a story. Why high achievers who work from intrinsic motivation never feel pressure — and how reframing the narrative changes performance more than any biohack.
Tracking as calibration. How Daniel uses 100+ biomarkers, HRV, sleep data, and half-hour time tracking — and when to stop measuring because your body already knows.
Identity vs. company. Why attaching your identity to your startup is the #1 burnout trigger — and how detaching from outcomes is the actual performance unlock.
Burnout patterns in founders. The three profiles Daniel sees repeatedly in thousands of founders — and what separates those who recover from those who collapse.
Inner work at the top. How Daniel uses somatic release, Jungian psychoanalysis, ashram retreats, and emotion-completion practices to sustain elite-level output decade after decade.

Key Takeaways

1
Pressure only exists in your head — and you can opt out. When you work from intrinsic motivation, like a skateboarder obsessed with getting better, there is no pressure. It feels like a game. The founders who suffer are playing someone else's game.
2
All great things come from focus. Daniel spent years doing too many things simultaneously — investing, building communities, running tech companies. EWOR was born from the single decision to do one thing for the rest of his life.
3
Track to calibrate, then let go. Biomarkers, HRV, sleep data — Daniel uses all of it, but the goal is to internalize the signal until your body reads itself. Like learning Chinese tones: you need exposure to develop the ear, then the teacher becomes optional.
4
Identity detachment is the elite performance unlock. Knowing you could stop tomorrow — that work is a choice, not a cage — is what makes high output sustainable. The moment your company becomes your identity, burnout is inevitable.
5
The three burnout profiles he sees in founders: those who fuse identity with company, those genetically less resilient to chronic stress, and those who over-promise because optimism outpaces capacity. Recognising which one you are is the first intervention.
6
Investors who push burned-out founders are destroying value. Daniel's take is unambiguous: a burned-out founder cannot perform. The aligned move — commercially and ethically — is to mandate rest, restructure, and protect the person. Not squeeze harder.
7
Learning to feel emotions to completion is a performance skill. Suppressing feelings is a body problem, not just a mental one. Daniel works weekly with a somatic coach specifically to feel fear, frustration, and stress through — not around — the body.
"All great things come from focus. I want to run this organization for the rest of my life."
"I know I could stop work tomorrow. That makes it psychologically different. It's always a choice."
"If you attach your identity to the company, your identity dies with the runway. That is a horrible phenomenon."
"I feel exhilarated. The feeling of flow, forgetting about time, pure joy — that's my peak."

Frameworks Mentioned

Clarity → Effectiveness → Energy
The three-layer productivity system from his book: know your goal, do the right things, then sustain the physiology to keep going for a decade.
Identity Recalibration
Daniel's term for the process of accepting the gap between who you are and who you want to be — and closing it incrementally rather than through force.
Teleological Fallacy
Success always looks inevitable in reverse, but had 80,000 possible paths from the trunk. Understanding this prevents the "I should have known" trap.
REM vs. Deep Sleep
Current science suggests REM = emotional recovery, deep sleep = physical recovery. Daniel structures recovery decisions around both metrics.
